Display Plate Racks
When it comes to home interiors, every homeowner has their own personal sense of style. That’s what makes a house a home. Some homeowners choose to display special items that are sentimental while others choose to display items purely on their decorative value rather than their sentimental value. When items such as handmade ornate tiles, frames, fine china, patterned dishware and other non-standing pieces need to be displayed, plate racks are an excellent option.
These dish holders are available in various styles that include hanging single plate racks, multi plate racks and standing plate racks. The most popular style plate racks are those that hold approximately three plates in a vertical row. They may be either very ornate themselves or very simple in design so as to keep the focus on the displayed plates rather than the holder.
With that said, there are also many homeowners that choose to display or for space saving reasons, keep their everyday dishes on a free standing dish rack. This style rack may either have one to three tiers on which stacks of plates are rested or may have prongs that stick upward and allow the dishes to stand up and lean backwards thus showing the front of the plate. These plate racks require counter space rather than cabinet space. Many modern kitchens of today feature open shelving rather than concealing cabinetry. Plate racks are excellent under these modern conditions.

Hanging plate racks are usually made of either metal or wood. Some are quite embellished with metal scrollwork that extends beyond the plates to act as a sort of framing around them while others are simply attached by spring action around the plate so that very little metal is showing. This style plate rack is usually for one single plate and can be hung alone or can also be grouped with other plates hung in the same fashion. Hanging groupings of plates are usually found in dining rooms above buffets or on large open walls. Other styles feature a large metal piece that has various section on which plates are placed. The metal is mounted to the wall and the plates or other decorative items are set in each holder area. These may hang either vertically or horizontally.
Plate racks range in price from approximately as low as $10 to as high as $100 depending on material and style. You can find racks that will compliment just about any other piece of decor in your home, even something specific as a Karlsson wall clock.
